  • 2.5Not a bad book overall (ok plot, decent writing, pretty well-characterized protags), but it left me curiously underwhelmed. This was not an M/M romance. The romance aspect was entirely secondary to the story, and the HEA/HFN at the end was too optimistic for the way the relationship between the two protags had developed up until that point. This was partially due to the fact that even though I, as a reader, got to know the protags decently well, they did not get to know each other at all.In a [...]

  • The political intrigue reminded me a lot of Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner, so it didn't surprise me at all when the author name-checked that book in her acknowledgements. It's also one of my most favorite books, so perhaps I was predisposed to like this one. That said, the book did get a bit bogged down in places where the political machinations were a bit contrived and I did get a little tired of Geln always playing the damsel in distress. Still it was an enjoyable read and one I had a hard time [...]

  • I've enjoyed other works by Skye, so this one left me disappointed. It doesn't have an ending so much as just stops, like the author ran out of steam.Additionally, too much of the politics were left unexplained. Why would Anne-Marie be allowed to run rampant like that? What was Tobias's mother playing at, specifically? What trauma had Geln gone through? etc. etc.I also thought Tobias was pretty much Too Stupid To Live, though some of it could be explained as his naivete and inexperience with pol [...]

  • This book was terrible. The plot was so thin that I could almost see through the pages. Two agents of the Alliance try to subvert a rather backward planet. The male agent,Genl, falls for the son of one of the aristocratic families. Awkward sex, dumb agents, stupid aristocrats all make this book a loser in my opinion.

  • On page 55 after an hour of reading and I can't move forward. I love Joely Skye and never thought I'd say this, but dangis just crawls. Seriously doubt I'll finish this.

  • A cyberpunk political thriller with a tint of gay romance. The writing was average, the story was predictable. There was nothing memorable but it wasn't too bad either.

  • I really liked this book. It is very very silly and blatantly ignores things like, oh, internal consistency, coherent character development and common sense. But it was a fun read.

  • Если бы не знала, ни за что бы н е поверила, что эта книга написана на два года позже "Чудовища". Задумка неплохая хорошая, но исполнение очень уж сырое.
