    About " Alex Laybourne "

  • Alex Laybourne

Born and raised in the coastal English town Lowestoft, it should come as no surprise to those that have the misfortune of knowing this place that I became a horror writer. From an early age I was sent to schools which were at least 30 minutes drive away and so spent the most of my free time alone, as the friends I did have lived too far away for me to be able to hang out with them in the weekends or holidays.I have been a writer as long as I can remember and have always had a vivid imagination To this very day I find it all too easy to just drift away into my own mind and explore the world I create, where the conditions always seem to be just perfect for the cultivation of ideas, plots, scenes, characters and lines of dialogue everything basically, and when the time is right, I can simply pluck them from the allotment of my mind serve them up on the pages of whatever work is to be their home.I am married and have four children and my biggest dream for them is that they grow up and spend their lives doing what makes them happy, whatever that is.

  • I have read a couple of books by Alex Laybourne now. They are quick reads, engaging and out there! As you can probably guess, this one is a bout a giant shark! Strange lights in the ocean and a large, unexpected military presence force the closure of a town where a number of fishing vessels have vanished. The military know more than they are letting on and has plans of their own for this mutated beast. This was OK. I enjoyed his Dino books more, this one seemed a little less action-packed so 3.5 [...]

  • UnfinishedAs I finished the first chapter the storyline was at a standstill. Would it expand with the subsequent chapters? No,it only became disjointed. d then it was over!In my opinion, it lacked a solid introduction, with a weak storyline, and no definite conclusions for the reader. I was really anticipating a great "nailbiter"

  • Sharks, you know I love em. Alex Laybourne brings us a thrilling, action packed shark story. This comes complete with all the shark attacks and people getting chomped that you would expect from a book like this. Looking for a quick, fun, and easy read? Check out Megalodon Rising.

  • SorryI chose this because of the title. It was my first book under the good reads list. I was extremely put out as it read like a bad script from some made for t.v movie

  • I’m a huge fan of Alex Laybourne’s work, and these novels have become a fun delicacy for me.The story is fast moving and keeps you riveted. While the end can be abrupt for some, I like it. It can either lead into a sequel or remain a fun read that leaves the future to the reader’s imagination, and that can be better than any author can come up with. This reminds me of my guilty pleasures on the SyFy channel. The characters are pretty interesting as each carries their own problems with them. [...]

  • A giant meteor falls from the sky into the Atlantic Ocean and starts giving birth to Megalodon sharks. The US Navy with all it's resources sends one helicopter to find out what is going on. I love creature thrillers especially Megalodon ones but this one required a huge leap of faith to try to fill in the areas where we were left hanging. It wasn't the worst I've read but it was far from the best.
