  • Even though I did not quite finish this book, I want to go ahead and rate it. I probably won't finish. I read it because I was interested in the connection with Malamud's 'The Fixer,' and because as writer, I thought I might use the story myself. I've abandoned that idea now, not because of anything to do with the story, the writer, or its importance, but for reasons unrelated to the book itself.
